In Benchrest competition, there’s no such thing as a group that’s “too small.” Everything has to be tuned to the highest degree to produce match-winning results. That’s why you should use CCI Benchrest primers. Only the most experienced skilled personnel put the priming mix in the cups, so you get the same flame, shot after shot. Benchrest Primers also use specially selected cups and anvils for added consistency. An independent researcher identified the use of CCI Benchrest primers as one of two factors that were the most significant contributors to tiny groups. CCI Primers are continuously tested and improved. As a result today’s CCI primers are more sensitive, easier to seat and more compatible with progressive and automated loading equipment than ever before. They utilize modern non-corrosive and non-mercuric initiator mixes for the cleanest burn possible..

I have been using CCI BR primers in my 220 swift for years pushing a 40gr Blitz King @ 4200 FPS. never a misfire or blowout in over 1500 rounds.

These are excellent for their consistency and uniformity. I first purchased them when I needed SR primers for a 223 and these were all that were available. I now use them for 222 and 221 FB as well with excellent results. I’ve never had a single misfire and the groups always seem to be a bit smaller than standard SR primers. The most significant difference with any caliber was…wait for it…the 351 Winchester SLR. I’ll wait for you to get up. OK; anyone familiar with the old Winchester SLR series knows that, due to a number of difficult to control variables, accuracy can be an issue. I was in the midst of loading a batch one day and said “Hey, what the heck.” The results on target were rather astounding as groups that had only been fair shrunk well over 50% in size and I well remember one 3 shot group that was a classic clover leaf. The only variant in that load was the BR4 primer. Now it’s the only thing I use for my old Winchesters. Will you have the same results? Can’t say for sure but I will definitely buy more when they are available again.

Have been using the BR4 primers in my S&W customized M&P 15 5.56 nato rifle, remington XP 100 fireball pistol and Remington 700 Varmitt 22/250 with excellent results with the Sierra 52 gr HPBT Match bullets. Recently shot a sub 1/2 inch group at 112 yards from the M&P 15. Never had a miss fire or any problems in over 1000 rounds.

Using these primers with a load of benchmark and 50grn Hornady v-max’s I’m getting 1/2″ 100 yard groups out of my NEF .223 rem. These perform just a tad better than federal match primers in my gun, though I doubt varmints could tell the difference.

I’m using the CCI BR#4 primers in the .223Rem shooting heavy 69gr. bullets. I believe they and the AA2520 are a winning combination. I’m getting significantly lower ES and SDs over the chronograph, load development continues on this caliber. I’ll stick with the CCI primers.

CCI has always made excellent primers. Their BR (bench rest) primers are simply a step above other “standard” primers. With chronograph data you will see that the velocity, while a little lower, will be more consistent with less extreme spread and smaller SD’s. These are worth the extra cost. I have about 25,000 CCI BR primers (LR & SR).

Been using CCI primers for a couple decades now and have found them to work reliably in anything I shoot. The CCI cups are a little harder than, say Federals (I like Federal 210M primers also) so ‘ya gots to be sure ‘ya have a decent firing pin strike. Maintain ‘ya all weapons and ‘ya all will have no failure to fire.

We only reload for precision and long range (for caliber) target shooting. I do not see any point of spending my time building precision ammunition with inferior products. I have not tested Benchrest primers VS non- BR primers, or other brands of BR primers. Started with these and have been pleased. We routinely keep our (3 round & 5 round) groups under an inch at 100 or 1 MOA. This is in auto-loaders. DDM4, Colt HBars and our builds. Plenty of accuracy for ringing steel plates out to 400. Occasional “one holer” groups but that’s not common for us yet. Still need to tinker with other variables…but not primers.

Can’t say anything bad about them. Have shot at least 1000 and have not had any failure to fire. SDs are within single digits. Very consistent results. They do what they are supposed to do. Gave up others after trying these. Will stick with two brands now. Would not use these in my AR tho. Cups are fairly soft but not too soft like some others I have tried.

AS a competitive shooter I have used this primer for close 30 years.
KERI –
Excellent primers. One interesting characteristic is that they go into the primer pockets a little easier than most. So if your pockets are on the large size, you may have a little trouble keeping them in, and another primer might be a better idea. But for accurate loads, it is a great primer. I use them for my varmint Tac 20 loads, and they hold out to 700 yards.

CCI bench rest primers are the best. They are consistent and reliable. I have used them for over 20 years

As usual CCI is top quality!!!
RYAn –
These CCI BR4 primers are uniform and have a heavy enough cup that they do not burn through around the firing pin on high velocity caliber rounds such as the .204 Ruger.
sona –
I use them on my 7mm Remington magnum, 300 Winchester magnum, and 338 lapaua. I have had no issues.
AKHTAR –
I understand that this primer is possibly one of the best available. I would like to list the obvious attributes but I simply cannot because I can’t find a single primer for sale! Stay tuned and maybe next YEAR…I’ll have a working knowledge and an appropriate report in hand. A new 6mm BR owner !!

I use the CCI BR-4 small rifle primers on my most accurate rifles. I have compared their accuracy to the CCI 400, Federal 205M, and Remington 7 1/2 primers and have found that the BR-4s are more accurate after comparing their performance in the same rifles using the same powder loads and the same bullets under equivalent conditions.
